Top Road Trip Travel Hacks I Used For My Big Bear Weekend Trip

Ever since COVID-19 began, I have not traveled anywhere, so I decided to go on a spontaneous road trip with Jacopo and Jared to Big Bear, California. Road trips can be fun and exciting, but it can be hectic if you forget something important or wear the wrong clothes. I wanted to make this trip an effortless and enjoyable one so I followed these 10 travel tips that helped me be more prepared.

Hack #1: Minimal skincare and beauty routine

On a road trip, you’ll probably be spending a lot of time outdoor in the sun and your skin will be exposed to dust and harmful UV rays. For my makeup routine, I like to keep my it very minimal so that my skin feels fresh and breathable even if I sweat. Make sure to pack SPF with you and reapply throughout the day. The Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen is my go-to and I also packed the Supergoop Invincible Setting Power SPF 45, which is really easy for quick hands-free touchup.

Hack #2: Make a packing list

I find that it’s super helpful if you have everything you need visually in front of you, whether on your phone or a notepad. Checking each item off on the list makes it less likely that you’ll forget something.

Hack #3: Pack versatile clothing

I packed light with only comfy and versatile clothes that I know I can wear multiple ways. A white button down shirt is perfect for styling with a tank top and biker shorts and also works as a swimsuit coverup. I also packed sneakers for hiking and a hoodie or sweater for when it gets cold.

Hack #4: Portable blender for smoothie on the go

I love my morning matcha smoothie and even on a road trip, I packed my Blendjet One Portable Blender and frozen fruits so that I could still enjoy a nice, cold and healthy smoothie.

Hack #5: Pack a water bottle

Bring your own water bottle instead of buying bottled water is always a good idea anytime and anywhere!

Hack #7: Pack healthy meals for the road

It’s not a road trip if you don’t snack along the way. I stopped by Whole Foods to grab some of my favorite snacks for the road and also healthy and filling sandwiches.

Hack #8: Pack a beauty bag with essentials

Assemble a beauty bag depending on your needs. Since I’m not wearing any makeup, I packed only essentials like moisturizer, toothpaste, dental floss, etc. If you plan on wearing makeup, you can pack some travel sized ones and makeup removing wipes.

Hack #9: Pack SPF!!

It is suggested that you should reapply SPF every 2 hours so make sure you include that in your beauty bag as well.

Hack #10: Do research in advance

Make plans ahead of time for where to eat and what to do. If you are not the type to make an itinerary and more spontaneous like me, you could use Google to help you figure it out on the go.
