Tokyo Travel Guide

I was super excited to kick off 2020 with a trip to Tokyo, Japan. I’ve been to Tokyo several times before and each time I fall more in love with the city. This time around, I was able to revisit this beautiful place with Jacopo and my fam at Revolve.

Where To Stay

Aman Tokyo

Aman Tokyo is my favorite place to stay in Japan. You get an amazing view of the city skyline from your room. I’ve stayed at different Aman Resorts around the world and always have the best experience.

Hoshinoya Tokyo

Hoshinoya Tokyo is a traditional Japanese style resort. It felt like visiting someone’s house where you take your shoes off upon entering. It’s very relaxing and peaceful but if you have a busy itinerary and just want to do your own thing, I don’t recommend it. Room service and breakfast need to be requested at least a day before (which I didn’t do) and do not like because what if I get hungry in the middle of the night and want a quick bite!? They do have plenty of treats and snacks in the common area if you need a quick bite. Highly recommend their Japanese breakfast which is super customized. Thankfully, they were accommodating and skipped diary and soy for me.

Where To Eat

Nemuro Hanamaru

This popular conveyor belt sushi restaurant is located on the 5th floor of the KITTE building. Sushi is served on these color-coded plates that you grab from the rotating belt; each color means a different price for the sushi. In the end, they just count how many plates you devoured on the table. An easy spot to get your favorite sushi, try out new ones and over-eat here.

Oiwake Dango Honpo

Daifuku is a red bean cake that has similar a texture to Mochi. I kept coming back to this spot even if it took me an hour to get there. Everything is handmade and needs to be refrigerated if not eaten within a day because the ingredients are fresh. My favorite was the one with a fresh strawberry in it. A Daifuku a day keeps my belly and heart happy.

Shin Udon

This was my favorite Udon place. Usually I try to stay away from soy and flour noodles unless I’m in Italy eating pasta as it makes me feel too bloated but they hand-makes everything here. The wait was about 30-40 mins long (we went there at 2pm) and I didn’t feel I over-ate/heavy or bloated. I ordered udon with tempura. I finished all the tempura which is usually coated with eggs and fried and would normally inflame my eczema but I was totally fine!

Other Restaurants

Yasaiya Teppanyaki Vegetables Akasaka – vegetarian friendly, sit at the grill counter.
5daime Hanayama Udon Ginza – another great spot for udon.
Itoh Dining by Nobu – amazing lobsters, all the food was so delicately prepared and presented.
Afuri Ramen – a must-try ramen place and there are ten branches in Japan.

What To Do

Go Karts

The highlight of the first day of the trip was Go Kart riding. I got to explore the city in a way that I’ve never done before. Make sure to bundle up because there is no heater on these cars obviously. I wore my Chanel puffer jacket and Khaite knee high boots styled with a Chanel 19 waist bag to match the Song Of Style Fiona top and Grlfrnd high waisted jeans.

TeamLab Planets

Whether you are a Tokyo first-timer or not, I highly recommend you plan a trip to TeamLab Planets. The experience was so immersive and out of this world. Some of the artwork is more interactive than others like the room filled with giant floating balloons. My favorite artwork was the Infinite Crystal Universe – a must.

Amore Omotesando

I wouldn’t buy a regular quilted Chanel bag here but this place has a huge collection of rare vintage gems if you want to splurge.

Hakone Shrine

On the second day, we took the bullet train to Hakone to see the Hakone Shrine. It is a Japanese tradition to come to the Shrine and pray for good fortune in the New Year.

I wore my Song Of Style faux leather jacket and faux leather pants to match with these beautiful ladies. It was such a special moment for me to see powerful and inspiring women like them in Song Of Style. What I love about the #revolvearoundtheworld trips the most is that I get to spend time with these people. The friendships we have built together and connections we have made with one another is what truly makes traveling so memorable for me.
