Belmond La Residencia

Does it get dreamier than this? We flew to Madrid from Mexico for the wedding of our close friends Alexandra and Ghassan and decided to extend our stay in this beautiful part of the world for just a little longer. We knew we wanted to explore more of Spain but couldn’t pinpoint where. After exploring South Spain last year, and driving along the Spanish coastline two years ago, we almost went back to either as we loved both those trips! And then I remembered saving some images of this beautiful Belmond hotel a while ago, and so my research into Mallorca began. We came to Mallorca for a ten day visit. It’s just a quick one hour flight over from Madrid into Palma. We booked a car from Palma Airport and drove the forty minutes up to Deià, where this Belmond Hotel is located. It was absolutely dreamy here. Something I learned about the Mallorcan landscape is that the north coast is very mountainous and rocky (where Belmond is), while the East/South coast is more flat with crystal clear waters. I loved that we experienced a lot of what the island had to offer in our ten day trip here. We spent our first few nights here, at the Belmond La Residencia. We didn’t leave the property much as there was so much relaxing to be had right here. The hotel is quite large, with an olympic sized pool (for adults and kids). It’s very family friendly and has activities for children, but is also perfect for couples to escape to! There are several restaurants, but my favourite would have to be El Olivo, where we experienced the divine degustation menu while watching the sunset. This restaurant is exactly your Pinterest ‘European Summer’ Board cover photo. A dinner at sunset here is a must, and can also be booked if you are not a hotel guest (bookings are essential during high season!). Every detail to this hotel has been thought out. Our suite (with plunge pool!) was perfection, the spa service and signature treatment was divine, and the layout of the hotel means dreamy mountain views from every corner. If you are looking for a family retreat, or a romantic escape in Mallorca, you can certainly find it here.

Tip: A must do while you are in Deià is the rocky beach Cala Deià. Make a booking at Ca’s Patró March, an amazing seafood restaurant, right on the water. To get a table during high season you must book (ask for a table by the water) and I suggest booking early in the morning as the carpark situation can be a nightmare, but well worth the drive down for the food & view! You can also walk quite easily from the Belmond La Residencia if you are up to making the journey back up the hill post feed.
