New York Fashion Week is well underway, and the WGSN content team are combing over collections, looking for trend confirmations and for new inspiration, too.
On the WGSN trend feed, it’s #PsychedelicHiker that’s quickly emerging as front-runner and favourite. With a hiker aesthetic growing in popularity – thanks to brands like Gucci and the unparalleled rise of sportswear – we’re seeing fresh updates as the trend evolves.
“Psychedelic Hiker is giving tie-dye a decidedly sporty aesthetic, marrying two youth-oriented trends together” says editor of the Trend Feed, Polly Walters, who’s spotted the trend emerging in Collina Strada‘s A/W 19 collection. ” Strada offers up grungy tie-dies, and offsets this with performance-ready pieces – perfect for a youthy festival drop”.

For further inspiration, look to Maryam Nassir Zadeh, who amps up the volume of tie-dye prints in her recent A/W 19 collection. From acid brights to grungy darks, different colourways are infused on puffa jackets and second-skin intimates, giving this sportswear a psychedelic twist.
