8 Books I’m Excited To Read This Holiday Break

Just say, Hi guys! I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season! This time of year is perfect for getting cozy and relaxing after all of the craziness. One of my favorite things to do every year during this time is to curl up and read! I wanted to share some of the books I’m excited to read during the holiday break:

1. When Breathe Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi – A memoir written by a neurosurgeon that got diagnosed with lung cancer and his attempt to answer the question: What makes a life worth living?
2. Becoming by Michelle Obama – This book written by the former first lady needs no further introduction. I am excited to read about her journey as the first lady
3. You Are A Badass At Making Money by Jen Sincero – One of my goal in 2019 is to be better with my finance and I’m intrigued by what this book has to say.
4. My Year Of Rest And Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh – They say don’t judge the book by its cover but the cover of this book is so interesting and made me want to read the book. It’s about a young woman, out of college, orphaned, feeling very alone and lost in the world, with an inheritance to sustain herself, wants to escape and her plan was to embark on a year of self-induced hibernation. Sounds interesting, right?
5. Cherry by Nico Walker – This book is slightly darker than your usual holiday reads, it’s a story about the author Nico Walker, who is a student turned Army medic turned war hero turned heroin addict turned bank robber turned federal prisoner turned writer.
6. The Friend by Sigrid Nunez – This book is about a friendship between a woman and a dog that her lifelong best friend left behind.
7. Small Fry by Lisa Brennan-Jobs – This is a coming-of-age story written by Steve Jobs’ daughter and this book is a portrait of her childhood and her complex family
8. If You See Me, Don’t Say Hi by Neel Patel – A series of short stories featuring characters that are all first-generation Indian Americans. The stories explore some of the deeply held stereotypes faced by Indian Americans.
